Former Roc-A-Fella rapper Young Chris recently revealed he spoke with Jay-Z about possibly managing his career, now that he has a deal firmly in place with Grammy Award winning, hit making songwriter Rico Love's imprint, Division 1 Records.
Young Chris' latest release will drop on Division 1, which is helmed by Rico Love, the author behind hits such as "Hello Good Morning" by Diddy and Dirty Money, as well as "Radio," and "Sweet Dreams," hit song's for Jay-Z's wife Beyonce.
Chris, who was signed to Roc-A-Fella from 2001 to 2005 as a member of the Hip-Hop duo Young Gunz with partner Neef, found success with the label based off the group's hit single "Can't Stop, Won't Stop."
"I spoke to Jay the other day, he was in Paris," Young Chris said during an interview with Roc-A-Fella's official website, Roc4Life.com. "I was talking to them about Roc Nation management. There's a few other guys I was talking to, too. So we'll see…"
His relationship with Jay-Z has not impacted his dealings with other members of State Property, a group that featured Freeway, The Young Gunz, Peedi Crack and Beanie Sigel.
Peedi and Beanie were both very vocal in their displeasure with Jay-Z, who was accused him of abandoning the group after Roc-A-Fella Records was split-up and sold off to Island Def Jam in 2004.
"
[Neef], that's my brother. I tell everybody, we started together. We didn't start in music together. We come from the streets together. Middle school, we moved with our moms five miles away from each other, it was a different relationship," Young Chris said. "That'll never go nowhere. Same with Beans, Petey, the rest of the guys, man. State Property. They my brothers. No matter what they went through with Jay and all that s**t, I'm my own man, so I got my own relationship with all of them."
Young Chris is preparing to release a new mixtape titled "L.I.F.E. (Ladies In Free Everywhere)" on May 24th. Check out the first of three trailers Young Chris is dropping to promote the mixtape.
